Decide before you invest.

Independent, fixed-fee discovery before any technology decision, so you decide what you need, not what you think you need. Six stages, four lenses, and three sprints to enter with: Start, Grow or Transform.

The work
Every technology engagement should start with structured discovery, and most don't. Ours, which we call Navigator, puts it first. The whole assessment exists to answer one question with evidence: based on what we find, what should you do next, and what is it worth? The stages run in a fixed order, so discovery comes before design and the decision before the build. We choose technology at Select, the fifth stage, and cost every option before it is chosen. You leave with a recommendation and the pathway it routes to, delivered by Kode-1 or by a specialist partner where that is the better fit. The recommendation stays independent either way.
The challenge

Most technology investments are decided before anyone has established what the business actually needs.

Buying before deciding

A platform chosen on a demo and a pitch, with the business case assembled afterwards to justify it.

A leadership team that hasn't agreed the problem

Priorities that differ by stakeholder, constraints nobody has surfaced, and no one who clearly owns the decision.

Options nobody has costed

A shortlist of directions with no value, cost or effort against any of them. The loudest voice decides.

Months of consulting before a decision

Discovery, assessment, recommendation and business case run as separate engagements, each starting from scratch.

Advice from whoever sells the answer

A recommendation shaped by whoever is delivering it, with no independent view to test it against.

Findings without a decision

Assessments that end in a report and no decision. The question of what to do next stays open, and the investment stalls with it.

What advisory services cover
  • Independent discovery, run before any purchase, that defines what the engagement should be
  • One question answered with evidence: what should you do next, and what is it worth?
  • Technology choice made at Select, never at Discover
  • Every option costed for value, cost and effort before it is chosen
  • A recommendation that routes to a pathway, through Kode-1 or a specialist partner
The method

Discovery before design, decision before build.

01

Discover

What is the business trying to achieve, and what exists today?

02

Diagnose

Where are the gaps and risks, and what should the future state look like?

03

Options

What could address the problem?

04

Priorities

Which initiatives matter most, and in what order should they be tackled?

05

Select

Which option, and which pathway, should go ahead?

06

Mobilise

How is the chosen option mobilised into delivery?

The lenses

One assessment, every lens.

Every lens is applied in every engagement, wherever you start.

Alignment

What we examine

Leadership priorities, value drivers and constraints across every stakeholder who owns part of the decision.

What it answers

Does leadership agree on the problem and the priorities?

Capability

What we examine

Business capabilities, operating model and maturity, measured against the target state.

What it answers

What can the organisation do today, and what must it be able to do?

Technology

What we examine

Applications, architecture, integration, data and technical debt.

What it answers

What is really in the environment, and what does it depend on?

Value

What we examine

Priority use cases, business-case inputs and the investment envelope.

What it answers

Where is the measurable value, and what is it worth?

How we work · Advisory Services
Step 01 · 45 minutes

Scoping conversation

We agree the sprint, the sponsor, the start date, and whether a discovery is worth your time at all. Scope and fee are fixed here.

Step 02 · Weeks, not months

The discovery sprint

Leadership interviews, working sessions and technical review, ending in options the sponsor can compare on value, cost and effort.

Step 03 · At the close

Your pathway

A recommendation, evidenced and costed, that routes to whichever pathway the evidence supports. There is no obligation to continue, and the decision is yours whoever delivers it.

What you receive
  • A leadership alignment note: agreed priorities and named decision owners
  • A capability and maturity profile scored against target state, gaps ranked by impact
  • A technology landscape and dependency map, with risk and technical-debt hotspots flagged
  • Prioritised opportunities with business-case inputs: value, cost and effort for each
  • One clear recommendation, fully costed, with the pathway it routes to
The Navigator sprints

You enter with a sprint and leave with a pathway.

The sprint sizes the discovery. Scope builds from one to the next, and you can enter at any of them.
